Why I Decided to Start a Substack
Lessons from Building, Scaling, and Growing—Both in Business and in Life
Over the past year, I’ve been battling depression. It’s not something I’ve openly shared before, but if I’m creating a space dedicated to self-improvement and growth, it has to be an honest one.
As a Doctor of Physical Therapy turned entrepreneur, I’m building and scaling two bootstrapped companies, Prehab and Prehab Physical Therapy. On the surface, my life might look like an entrepreneur’s highlight reel—building, scaling, leading. But what you don’t see are the struggles that come with it: the loneliness, self-doubt, sleepless nights, and the constant battle of trying to push forward while questioning if you're doing the right thing.
Journaling, along with daily mindfullness, has recently become been one of the most powerful tools in my own self-improvement journey. My mind races at night, making it hard to fall asleep or stay asleep. Writing gives me an outlet to slow my thoughts, reflect, and process everything I’m navigating. While mindfullness slows me down and brings me into the present. And that’s exactly why I’m starting this Substack.
This isn’t just for me, though. If what I share helps even one person—someone who feels like they’re constantly pushing but still struggling, someone who feels alone in their challenges—then this space will have served its purpose.
High performers, go-getters, health-conscious individuals—we all struggle. But social media doesn’t show you the failures, the doubts, the countless iterations before something works. It only shows the wins.
Beyond sharing personal struggles, this space will also be a place to share the insights, lessons, and strategies I’ve learned from scaling a business, being a healthcare professional, and leading a growing team. I want to offer not just vulnerability but also valuable takeaways—what’s worked, what hasn’t, and how I continue to refine my approach.
I hope this becomes a resource where others can learn from both my successes and failures, and where we can engage in meaningful discussions about entrepreneurship, healthcare, self-improvement, and growth.
I’m an open book. And I hope this space serves as a reminder that you’re not alone and that we can all learn and improve together.
